After thoughtful consideration, the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person 2026 Midwinter Convention and associated student events. This decision reflects MMEA’s commitment to health, safety, and equitable access for students, educators, performers, and community members across Minnesota.

In light of this decision—and out of care for our students, alums, faculty and guests—the CSB+SJU Alum Offices and the CSB+SJU Music Department will no longer host the in-person CSB+SJU Music & Mingling event as originally planned on the evening of Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at Brits Pub.

We know this news is disappointing. Music & Mingling is a meaningful opportunity for our Bennie and Johnnie music community to reconnect, celebrate one another and support our talented students. While we will miss being together in person, we understand MMEA’s decision at this time.

For those who were planning to attend the MMEA Midwinter clinic, MMEA is actively working to develop alternative online opportunities for connection, performances and sessions. They will share additional information directly with registered participants in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the CSB+SJU music community. We are deeply grateful for the many ways you show up for our students and for one another and we look forward to being together again soon.
